Many articles are talking about how to encourage women to study science, engineering and math, but
Microsoft is doing something about it. Through scholarship programs and summer internships, Microsoft is making a difference. This year's
summer interns at Microsoft feel they were taken seiously and now they know they are capable. This positive self assessment will be crucial in their future career and it is great that the summer program gave them this confidence. One intern said that because of her experience at Microsoft, she is thinking about pursuing a Phd. The Graduate degree is critical in technology, and Microsoft responds to the need for women graduate students by offering the Microsoft
Research Graduate Women's Scholarship Program. The Microsoft Research Graduate Women’s Scholarship is a one-year scholarship program for outstanding women graduate students and supports women in the second year of their graduate studies.
Jane Chu Prey (pictured), Senior Research Program Manager, Microsoft External Research, says “Microsoft Research is truly passionate about enabling women to succeed in computing and is excited to continue to support this scholarship. We are committed to creating exciting opportunities for computer science leaders of tomorrow, ultimately helping to ensure the future of scientific discovery and innovation.” The Scholarship Program begins accepting applications starting today, Tuesday, August 17, 2010.
