The number 0f women appointed to big jobs in October improved slightly over September 2012 but is still less than ideal. Major companies appointing women to big jobs included Celanese Corp, Eli Lilly, Kroger Co, American Media, SUPERVALU, Synovus Bank, Family Dollar Stores, Amgen, Visa, Time Warner Cable, CalPERS and Girl Scouts of the USA. New economy companies like Daily Candy, 23andME, FashionPlaytes and RegisterPatient.com, Inc., who made Jana Skewes (pictured) CEO, also appointed women to big jobs.
The list of women entrepreneurs getting their new ventures funded continues to grow, with them raising $33 million in October, 2012 bringing our total year to date to $888 million. These 21st century women know the future of America depends on women entrepreneurs as well as those interested in corporate careers.
