The path to success is never a straight line. Building power skills takes time and effort. But how do you do it? Here are some easy steps to remember so you don't lose your way:
P* - prepare for every meeting and be ready with suggestions and ways to help your company move forward. Every meeting is an opportunity to shine no matter what the subject is, from job assignments to personnel matters. Speak up if you want to move up.
O* - organize your day so you don't waste a minute. Make time to learn something new every day about your industry and your competition. It will make you better able to come up with solutions when they are needed.
W* - work your connections. Help others by sending them information that may help them do their job. Sharing with others will encourage them to share with you and remember you when a good opportunity surfaces.
E* - educate yourself on the latest technologies and how they are impacting your business. This will help you offer useful suggestions and make you an important part of the team.
R* - recognize what is important to your customers. Customer satisfaction is key to success and your efforts to contribute to that company goal will make you stand out.
