Rockefeller University Professors Cornelia Bargmann and Titia de Lange Win the "Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences".

The "Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences" Foundation, founded by Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin and Yuri Milner, awarded Professor Cornelia Bargmann, (pictured), Head of the Lulu and Anthony Wang Laboratory of Neural Circuits and Behaviour at the Rockefeller University, one of its first prizes for her "study of the genetics of neural circuits and behavior, and synaptic guidepost molecules". Also winning a prize was Professor Titia de Lange, Head of the Laboratory of Cell Biology and Genetics, and Director of the Anderson Center for Cancer Research at Rockefeller University, for her research on "telomeres, illuminating how they protect chromosome ends and their role in genome instability in cancer".
